About Daventry Bapist Church

This page reveals something of the history of DBC. Here you'll also find information on our emphases and how we currently do church.

History

Daventry Baptist Church was founded in 1997 by Church Planters from the Southern Baptists Union of America. The services were originally held in their home, but moved to Daventry Leisure Centre when the congregation increased.

In November 1999, we moved to our current location, in Ashby Fields Primary School which gives us excellent facilities such as classroom space for our Sunday School and a kitchen for refreshments so people may stay and socialise after the service.

Then, in September 2002, we called our first full-time Pastor. We are now looking forward to growing up into all that God has for us and reaching out to bless our town with the good news of great joy that we've found in Jesus.

House Groups

From our earliest days we have emphasied the importance of smaller home-based meetings, where there would be freedom for participation and mutual encouragement. We have some similarities with 'Cell' Churches, though our structure is a lot less formal.

Home groups have continued to play a vital role in the life and ministry of Daventry Baptist. Now, in the light of our vision, we are aiming to plant a number of groups throughout the town - each aimed at reaching a different and distinct section of Daventry in different and distinct ways.

These are not secondary meetings, but in fact central to the life, growth and health of Daventry Baptist.
